Style Cabana Home- Pottery Barn Sale

There has been an overwhelming amount of requests from readers to add Home Decor entries to Style Cabana. So here it is! We will begin sprinkling in Home Decor entries here and there. Please let us know what you think.

For our first entry we'll look at Pottery Barn's new bedding collection. I normally am not a huge fan of Pottery Barn's bedding but this summer they came out with a fabulous new line of bedding. Two of my favorites are actually on sale right now! I love both looks because they are sophisticated and fresh. The Avery Organic Duvet Cover (pictured top) is a classic espresso pattern on white. It's on sale now for only $109 for Queen. http://www.potterybarn.com/products/p11376/index.cfm?pkey=csale%2Dduvets%2Dshams
The Kylie Peacock Duvet Cover (pictured bottom) is only $79 for Queen. I like it with the black and white accents and the fantastic chandelier. http://www.potterybarn.com/products/p11379/index.cfm?pkey=csale%2Dduvets%2Dshams

Great Deals: Fall Into The Gap

The Gap's holiday season collection is in stores and there are some great finds! One of my picks is the Strapless Tiered Ruffle Dress in either black or navy. It's a silk cotton blend and would be great for any holiday parties or even new years eve. At only $78 it's a great deal. Check it out at http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=42011&pid=585587

Make a Statement: J.Crew Cascading Flower Jacket

Check out the absolutely exquisite, J. Crew Collection Cascading flowers boucle Astrid jacket ($425). Although the price is a bit steep I think it is definitely worth the splurge. As it looks like a piece from a much more expensive, exclusive designer collection. I think it would look smashing at those upcoming holiday parties and can be worn even for work.

Keep in mind that things at J. Crew regularly get marked down so keep checking their website.

What Did You Wear To Vote?

So what did you wear to vote on Tuesday? Many of our celeb friends were out and about rocking the vote on Tuesday. Nicky Hilton is seen here looking preppy chic with her "I Voted" sticker, which was the trendiest accessory for the day. I think Nicky's J. Crew black wool blazer with ivory piping looks particularly fabulous. I bought the blazer last year at J. Crew for around $200. Since it was from last year you can probably find it at the J. Crew Outlet this season. You can pair it with a white v-neck (per Nicky) with jeans and high brown riding boots for a casual look or cream/khaki slacks for a business appropriate look. I like the Marc Jacobs tote she wears with it but am not a fan of the Ray Bans with such a preppy look. Either way we're glad she rocked the vote in style!

J.Crew Fall Collection

J. Crew has a fabulous collection for fall and winter. There are a lot of great pieces to wear for work and even combine with jeans for evening. I love all of the great details their clothes have. There are so many great items, I just don't know where to begin. So this week I will feature a couple different looks that you can find at J. Crew. And they have many things on sale right now.

Check out the Victorian Ruffle Blouse ($89) with Pembridge-Dot Pencil Skirt in gold ($148). This blouse is extraordinary even with a black or gray pencil skirt for work. Or pants and a cream cardigan. It also comes in black which would be fun to wear out with jeans and a couple long strand necklaces. http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/shirtstops/camisblouses/PRDOVR~99694/99694.jsp

LC Really Loves Her...Chanel Purse

While in LA a couple weeks ago I ran into LC at Hamasaku (fabulous Sushi Restaurant). She had her new fav accessory with her- the Chanel Quilted Double Flap Bag in black. Now I know that the chain straps can remind you of your grandma's purse from the 80's but it's back!

Hot Accessory: Chanel Clip

Believe it or not that is Ashley Olsen escaping the paparazzi. You can see that she's sporting a Chanel Hair Clip, which she also wore on Oprah last week. The Chanel Hair Clip seems to be a hot accessory right now. It actually looks good with a black skirt and white button up dress shirt or blouse. I know it sounds 80's but make sure to secure a bun with it, not just a ponytail or you will look 80's. Go down to your local chinatown and pick one up for $5 or you can always get it at Chanel for over $300 (which Style Cabana does not advise since it's a trend).

Indian Summer Outfit

It's that time of year when there are cooler days with a few 80 degree days sprinkled in. So what to wear on those warm days when the day before you were wearing a wool sweater, leggings and boots? Take a cue from Reese Witherspoon, in this cute black t-shirt dress with brown belt and dark accessories. Now is not the time to wear those bright summery, sherbert colored dresses just because it is the same temperature as it is in July- it's still fall so dress like it! Reese's t-shirt dress and wide brown leather belt can be found probably at Gap, J. Crew or Banana Republic. Enjoy any of those last warm days of fall!

Hot Trend: Faux Fur

Fur jackets and vests seem to be in style every winter but this winter especially seems to be focused on fur. Don't go for the real deal, like Rachel Zoe, you could have PETA people throw paint on you in protest and it's super expensive. Instead go for the faux fur option. Express has a great faux fur jacket for only $168 (pictured above). Just make sure whatever coat you get looks luxe not super fake like your old teddy bear!

Socialite Steps out in Booties

Manhattan Socialite Olivia Palermo was spotted wearing the light gray shootie/booties. Her shoes look very similar to the Steve Madden's posted here last week, although I'm sure hers cost a lot more than $79. Olivia is going to be starring in The City (Hills spin off) as Whitney's new BFF. Can't wait to see that!

Trend Alert: Hippie Headbands

A trend that is quite bold and has been taking off since summer is the Hippie Headband. I saw it on girls at Lollapalooza, clubs in LA and of course celebrities. My favorite version of the look was worn by Lauren Conrad this week at her own fashion show. She wore a black and gold chain headband. I'm not sure I like the extra wide silver sparkly headband she wore at Lo's birthday party- it's a bit much. Of course I could not bring up the topic without showing the Queen of Hippie Headbands- Mischa Barton. Shown in very literal and subtle versions. To get the look go to Target, they have a wide variety of headbands.

Hot Trend: Liquid Leggings

I just got back from a trip to LA and one of the hottest trends out there right now is Black Liquid Leggings. I know this sounds a bit crazy but check out how LC rocked a pair just last week. They look dressy. Just make sure you wear an oversized top with them so they will not look dominatrix-like! The max you should spend on these are $29. Find them at trendy boutiques like Akira (in Chicago) and Anat B (in LA).

Must Have Shoe: Booties

This fall and winter will continue a trend in shoes that started last winter- Booties! Check out the super chic and trendy bootie from Steve Madden, the Luxe Magic Suede Bootie. I had the chance to see these on Style Cabana reader Megan and they look even more fab in person! They look great with pencile skirts, dresses or jeans. These can be found at DSW Shoes for $79.95.

Celebrity Style: Lauren Conrad Maxi Dress

I loved the dress Lauren Conrad wore to The Hills season 4 Premier. The beautiful silk maxi dress is by Cavalli. I love the soft peach color. The bright hibiscus flower really makes this fun and unique. I think this would be a fabulous dress to wear to a beach wedding or party on an island (perhaps Maui)!

Hot Trend: Nude Color Tops

A hot color this fall is nude. Beautiful chiffon blouses are very in this season as well. They look fabulous with jeans or black pants.
Diane von Funstenberg's Philippine Blouse (pictured top) encompasses both trends but the $285 price tag is a bit steep. Check out Victoria's Secret's version (pictured bottom), the Silk Chiffon Pleated Blouse is only $68. Get the trend at:

Stella McCartney for LeSportsac

Check out Stella McCartney's line for LeSportsac. Stella McCartney's handbags normally cost between $500-$1500 but her line for LeSport is affordable and is now on sale online for 75% off! Specifically the Spring Line is 75%, but that is better than her Fall Line.
I picked up the Everyday Tote (pictured) for $87 (originally $350). It fits a laptop with plenty of extra room. Additionally it has lots of pockets and a snap out pouch for jewlery or cosmetics or whatever. So it works as a great carry-on! Go to http://www.lesportsac.com/store/stella/4604_5824.html
to check out all of the great deals.

What To Wear To Sporting Events

Take a cue from Cameron Diaz when selecting an outfit to wear to a sporting event. She was spotted at this year's US Open with her new boyfriend, who happens to be Jen Aniston's ex model bf. I love the effortless, casual, classic chic white dress shirt and jeans. Pick up a shirt from Old Navy (pictured above) for $20 it looks just like Cameron's. Pair it with a fabulous pair of designer jeans (not an Old Navy pair or the outfit will not look expensive). BTW- I tried the shirt on at Old Navy this week and it runs small so go up a size.

Hot Trend: Belted Purple Dress

One of the hottest trends of the moment right now is belted purple dresses. I think this is a chic look. Purple is one of the hottest colors this fall so to incorporate it into your wordrobe why not get a cute short dress in purple? Then put a wider black belt around the waist for a trendy, chic look. My fav is Blake Lively (middle) in the one shoulder dress!

Cabana Fall Picks: Old Navy Highlights

Stylish and Old Navy are three words I would never use in the same sentence...until recently! I have been pleasantly surprised with the soft jersey maxi dresses and flowy, off-shoulder tops this summer. Now I am once again surprised with a couple of pieces from this fall's collection. So check out my picks from Old Navy this fall. Beginning at the top with the Satin 3/4 Sleeve Dress for $34. Next is the Silk Ruffle Top ($26) which would be cute under a suit. Finally the Double Breasted Sweater Coat ($39) in either black or white. I think this coat in black is a great pick for transitioning into the chilly weather. Paired with jean and a great purse it would be a fab outfit to shop in or go to dinner. So check out Old Navy without reservations- there are actually a couple fab pieces to combine with the rest of your wardrobe!

Cabana Fall Picks: Old Navy Cardigans

Check out the Color Block Cardigan at Old Navy now for $25. It's very similar to Tory Burch's Jeanne Cardigan which is $225. I love the signature Tory buttons on the cardigan however for a fraction of the price you can get the same look at Old Navy!
